CT State Library, Library Services Technology Act Community Needs Assessment Grant – Teen Space (2010 – 2011)

  • Wrote grant application
  • Managed all components of grant project
  • Recruited 88 teens from across the City of Hartford to participate in focus groups
  • Led group of 8 teens in library’s first Teen Advisory Board, named Teen Space Advisory Council to review focus group input and define most important aspects of a teen space

  • Taught teens how to use google tools to collect and organize  information
  • Integrated social media into meetings for virtual participation option
  • Used social media as research tool for teens to discover components for desired teen space

Institute of Museum and Library Services National Leadership Grant – Building Relationships and Bridging Social Capital: An Inclusive Approach to Immigrant Civic Engagement (2010 ) 

  • Wrote dissemination, sustainability sections of grant application
  •  Incorporated technology component in proposal

National Endowment for the Humanities and American Library Association – We the People Bookshelf (2009)

  • Wrote grant application
  • Managed all components of grant project
  •  Coordinated distribution of materials and resources to all libraries in ten site library system
Hartford Foundation for Public Giving – Homelinks Program (2008-2011)
  • Coordinated and facilitated early literacy programs at home daycares
  • Provided guided visits to the library in coordination with Southside Family Center
  • Provided group library events for home daycare providers and facilitated consistent use of library resources
  • Assessed literacy environment and made recommendations for creating print rich areas for children
  • Selected and delivered library books to home daycares to support or create print rich areas for children
  • Registered providers and children for library cards

Hartford Foundation for Public Giving – Smart Start early literacy series (2006-2007)

  • Created, promoted and facilitated early literacy programs and resources for area PreK classes and families in the community
  • Developed support resources for children, families, and teachers

Hartford Foundation for Public Giving – Family Literacy Enhancement (2004-2006)

  • Assigned as Family Literacy Coordinator for family literacy grants
  • Created and facilitated early literacy programs for 6 Brighter Futures Family Centers at family centers and the library in English and Spanish
  • Developed support resources for low literate parents in English and Spanish
  • Assessed and recommended early literacy print materials for family centers
  • Selected and ordered books for each series as well as give away titles for participating families
  • Selected and ordered early literacy toys and manipulatives for use in program

Leadership Greater Hartford Third Age Initiative – Readers as Leaders (2004)

  • Created and facilitated training program for 50 middle school students at Fox Middle School and Alfred E. Burr School for book buddy program with elementary school children

Connecticut Humanities Council – Fantastic Fantasies Book Discussion program (2003)

  • Hosted teen book discussion group at Camp Field Branch Library

Northeast Utilities – Enlightening Minds book discussion groups for Fathers/Sons and Mothers/Daughters (2003)

  • Selected and ordered books for discussion groups
  • Co-facilitated Mother/Daughter discussion groups at the Albany Branch Library
